Programs/Interventions that are essential to reducing risk of suicidal attempts and/or completions.
- Effective and appropriate interventions for mental health, physical and substance abuse issues
- Restricted access to highly lethal methods for attempts/completions
- Family and community support
- Support from ongoing medical and mental health care
- Learned skills in problem solving and conflict resolution
- Cultural and religious beliefs that discourage suicide and support self-preservation instincts
