BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER EARLY DETECTION PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION
Free statewide screening program for early detection of breast or cervical cancer.  Program is for uninsured or underinsured low income women. Connecticut Department of Public Health administers the program and the screenings take place at contracted hospital and health service provider sites. The program is funded by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP).

ELIGIBILITY

MAMMOGRAM: Women age 40+, or under age 40 with symptoms and/or specific risk factors;

CLINICAL BREAST EXAM AND PAP TEST: Women ages 19-64

FOR BOTH SCREENINGS: Income must be at or under 200% Federal Poverty Level; Must have no insurance or insurance that does not provide coverage for Pap tests or mammograms

NOTE: Program sites will determine eligibility, including risk assessment

SCREENING SITES
Screenings are done at contracted hospitals and health service provider sites.
