PROTECTIVE SERVICES FOR THE ELDERLY (PSE)

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION

The Protective Services for the Elderly Program is administered by the Connecticut Department of Social Services, http://www.ct.gov/dss/cwp/view.asp?a=2353&q=305232.  

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Protective Services for the Elderly regional workers investigate reports of known or suspected physical or mental abuse, exploitation or neglect of adults age 60+ who are living in the community and who are living in long term care facilities.

A Department of Social Services worker meets with the elderly person and his or her familyto determine unmet needs, and develops a comprehensive plan to address those needs. When necessary, staff will intervene immediately to safeguard the individual's health and well being.
