CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING

WHAT IS A CENTER FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING?

Connecticut’s Centers for Independent Living are single points of access to services for people with disabilities. Centers for Independent Living:

  • were codified into law with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973;
  • are charged with promoting empowerment and self-reliance for persons with disabilities;
  • are operated and administered by persons with disabilities;
  • offer a single point of access to services for all people regardless of the nature or type of disability; and
  • offer advocacy, information and referral, peer counseling, skills training, and other supportive services for persons with disabilities.

All persons with disabilities

HOW TO APPLY

  • Contact your local Center for Independent Living.
  • There are five Centers for Independent Living in Connecticut:
