HEAD
LICE
Lice are tiny brown and gray
parasites that can cause itching and scratching,
especially on areas of the body that are covered
with hair (typically the scalp, neck, and behind
the ears.)
Go to the National
Pediculosis Association for more
information on signs and symptoms, description,
incubation, prevention, and treatment of head
lice.
SCHOOL RESPONSIBILITY
School health
regulations are set by the town or region's
school board, unless the regulation is mandated
by state or federal law. If you have concerns
about how your child's school is managing a lice
infestation problem, first talk to your school
nurse, then to the principal, and then after
these channels have been explored, contact your
town's superintendent or school board.
