SUPPORTED LIVING/SUPPORTIVE HOUSING

WHAT IS SUPPORTED LIVING?

Supported living programs are designed to provide support services needed to enable special populations to live as independently as possible in their own apartments. Included are AIDS residences and supportive living arrangements for people with disabilities. Homeless permanent supportive housing programs provide housing and supportive services to help people who are chronically homeless get out of the cycle of temporary housing and establish a permanent living arrangement. Some supportive housing programs are targeted to homeless persons with mental health and/ or substance abuse problems, or affected by HIV/AIDS.
